How to Prepare for the Test

• Fasting is not required for the Heavy Metals, Environmental Toxins, or Mycotoxins tests.
• Fasting for 12 hours may increase the amount of toxins excreted in urine; consult with your ordering provider about whether they recommend fasting before the test.
• Some providers may prefer a "provoked" test, which uses a provoking agent (such as NAC, glutathione, DMSA, or EDTA) before the test to mobilize metals for excretion. Discuss this with your provider.
• Unprovoked tests are most commonly ordered and do not require a provoking agent.
• Avoid foods high in iodine (seafood, dairy, seaweed) and selenium (Brazil nuts) prior to testing, as they can bind to heavy metals and potentially lower result accuracy.
• For best test performance, collect the first morning urine upon awakening, prior to eating or drinking.
